James Salisbury
I am letter-carver living in Devon with a workshop just over the border in Somerset who carries out memorial, architectural and decorative lettering commissions throughout the UK. Each project is considered and developed in consultation with the client and all text is created on the drawing board and is unique to each commission.
I studied at The City & Guilds of London Art School in the 1980's and returned to teach on the Carving course for twenty years. I apprenticed to master lettering artists Richard Kindersley and Ralph Beyer and then set up my own studio in London until the move to the West Country in 2015. My current projects will take me to Sussex, Cornwall & Scotland.
