Mark Stafford
Mark Stafford comes from a long line of traditional stonemasons dating back to the 1700’s in the High Peak area of Derbyshire.
Having undertaken extensive training courses throughout England and in Venice, including a master’s degree in building conservation, he is a highly experienced Master Stonemason. He specialises in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings and scheduled ancient monuments and has overseen work on structures dating back the 4th Century. He has also designed and created several new war memorials.
Having learnt his initial letter cutting skills under the instruction of several highly-respected craftsmen he has continued to developed his abilities over the following years.
His bespoke, hand-carved, memorials are achieved by discussing the thoughts of the client and listening to, and understanding, their needs. Different types of stone are considered with British sandstones, limestones and slate being the most commonly used.
This process results in a unique memorial being designed and created to celebrate the unique life of the person being remembered.
