Pippa Westoby

I first developed a passion for lettering during my graphics course at college, where, with my tutors’ support, I taught myself the fundamentals of hand drawn lettering and calligraphy.

After graduating, I was fortunate to join the renowned David Kindersley Workshop for 2 years, where I refined my lettering skills and learned to carve in slate and stone. Following this, I worked with Tom Perkins for eight months before becoming the resident letter carver at Ivett & Reed in 1997, a role I held for five years. Now self-employed, I continue to build my business with support from Memorials by Artists, Cambridge Open Studios, and Cambridge Artworks, where I have my lettering workshop, producing commissioned memorials, as well as carved garden ornaments, house plaques, and signs.
