‘The inspiration for this stone was Yorkie Greaves, a 74-year-old homeless man who died in Kentish Town in 1996, having lived on a park bench for fifteen years. The spontaneous tributes by local people prompted me to design a memorial to all the homeless dead, many of whom die tragically young.’
