Memorial to William Green by Ronald Parsons

Iroko Timber

Iroko is an east African hardwood. The headpiece, made from a sustainable source, has been treated with Danish oil for extra protection and to enhance its colour.

‘William was Principal of Exeter College of Art when I was there as a student in 1950. We reconnected in 1962 when I was becoming known as a letter-cutter and heraldic artist, and he gave me invaluable advice on heraldry and design. He had a vast knowledge of many subjects, which he made available to me just for the asking. And in 1963 I married his daughter Audrey. With all these happy memories, I decided I must design a memorial to celebrate his life.’
