“With this playful piece I wanted to create a simple yet striking form by entangling two of my favourite letters (please relay my apologies to the 24 rejected stalwart characters and their friends - my other favourites - there's absolutely no discrimination here). Despite using limited letters (HO-HO-HO!) I have created a sculpture that combines two very contrasting elements; the softness of the O supported by the architectural rigidity of the H. Upon closer inspection, and perhaps a very gentle inquisitive prod to upset the balance, the viewer will then realise that this kinetic sculpture is made from a single piece of stone, and reflect..........'OH'. Please touch the sculpture, but be kind, these characters have feelings.”
Produced for the Letters Unlimited Exhibition where each artist was invited to select a piece of stone from a Portland quarry to create a work that will showcase the possibilities of letter carving.
