Héloïse Laurent
Le Vent souffle où il veut. (The wind blows where it wishes)
350 × 500 × 20 mm
9.5 kg
Original art piece by former LAT Journeyman Héloïse Laurent. This piece was created for The Letters Unlimited Exhibition. The brief was simple: create a work that will surprise, amaze – astound even – with what can be achieved by hand in stone using lettering.
“The text is a phrase from the Bible (John 3:8) which is also inscribed (in French) on the stone. I felt it echoed both the church setting of the exhibition and the unpredictable freedom of nature, in both beauty and destructiveness, as seen in the recent wildfire in France and Spain.”
Produced for the Letters Unlimited Exhibition where each artist was invited to select a piece of stone from a Portland quarry to create a work that will showcase the possibilities of letter carving.
Héloïse Laurent is a former Journeyman at LAT.
