Five-day course, 14-18 June 2027, at Nant Hirwen, Moelfre, Llansilin, Powys, SY10 7QW, taught by John Neilson.
This will be the tenth year we’ve had a lettercarving course at Nant Hirwen, some 9 miles west of Oswestry in a very beautiful corner of north Powys.
THE COURSE is intended for those with some experience of lettering and lettercarving and so will not suit complete beginners. The intention is to cover both design and carving, but the proportions of these are flexible. The overall theme is yet to be decided, but there will be scope for you to work on a topic or project of your choosing. There may also be a visit to a churchyard or my workshop, and a social evening and meal at a local pub.
THE COST is £420, which includes a delicious lunch and tea, coffee and snacks each day. Accommodation and other meals not included in this price. Stone can be ordered in advance according to your needs and will be charged at cost price.
ACCOMMODATION: Some self-catering bunkhouse accommodation is available on site, or you can make your own arrangements – there are some holiday cottages and B&Bs in the area.
