Annet Stirling

I trained as a graphic designer before studying lettering at the City and Guilds of London Art School with Berthold Wolpe. My formal education was rounded off with an apprenticeship at Richard Kindersley's studio in London.

1988 Brenda Berman and I formed Incisive Letterwork, focusing on large scale architectural inscriptions and 'word sculpture'. We worked extensively with Ian Hamilton Finlay, and designed and carved lettering for The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Opera House and The Festival Hall amongst others. Brenda retired in 2007.

Alongside the large work and the exhibition pieces a large part of my time over the years has been devoted to private commissions - making memorials and cremation stones.
