Teucer Wilson
My parents met at art school. I drew a lot as a child, including lettering inspired by album covers and graffiti. Art was my strongest subject, although I also loved languages and maths.
Studying stonemasonry at Weymouth College rekindled my fascination with text which led me to the Richard Kindersley Studio in London. In my five years there, Richard instilled in me the formal foundations required to confidently develop my own style. In 2000 I set up my workshop in Norfolk, gaining a Crafts Council Development Award in 2001. I enjoy exploring digital font design and have also worked with glass, steel and cast iron. I have an assistant and an apprentice funded by the LAT. I like to push boundaries. ‘What is a headstone? My memorial work is sculptural, often referencing ancient cultural forms and symbolism. These are potent objects and not just markers.
