Tom Perkins
Tom Perkins has been a leading professional lettering artist for several decades and his influential book' The Art of Letter Carving in Stone' was published by the Crowood Press in 2007.
He taught lettering on the calligraphy and bookbinding course in the 1980's and 90's at the Roehampton Institute (now University of Roehampton) and has conducted many lettering workshops in Britain for several decades eg for the Lettering & Commemorative Arts Trust, and West Dean College and abroad including Japan,USA, Italy and Finland.
Tom works largely to commission and his work includes a plaque and main title for the Queen's Gallery Buckingham Palace (now King's Gallery), and at St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Tom's lettering interest has always been in designing letterform. He is a fellow of Temenos Academy, the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society, the RSA, the Society of Designer Craftsmen and a member of the Art Workers Guild, and Letter Exchange.
