‘I wanted to show how variously someone can be represented, depending on the nature of the design, the material used and the choice of wording. The three stones represent different aspects of my mother and our family’s relationship to her. One is a formal slate; one a friendly design in rough Purbeck; and the third is an almost wholly pictorial version, that reflects her love of gardening and beekeeping.’
