Gaynor Goffe

Gaynor Goffe is a well-known calligrapher who has taught widely in Europe, and in the U.S. and Japan. She also works to commission - particularly making creative panels of prose and poetry, sometimes incorporating carved stone - and produces works for exhibition usually on themes relating to landscape.

Gaynor runs a wide range of correspondence courses which can be geared to individual requirements and teaches workshops for the Lettering Arts Centre.

Trained at Reigate School of Art & Design, she worked with calligrapher Donald Jackson for 3 years in the late 70's and is a fellow of the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society and the Society of Scribes and Illuminators. She taught on the calligraphy courses at the Roehampton Institute (now Roehampton University) from 1981-1997 and later at Reigate School of Art & Design.

Gaynor has written 2 calligraphy books and was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society in 2000. Her calligraphic typface 'Hamada' was commissioned and digitised by Linotype in 2009.
