This piece is a fragment of a much longer list of woodland, hedgerow and meadow plants native to the UK. The habitats created in our countryside and green spaces are essential to sustaining the populations of our native animal species.

As we humans spread out into these wild spaces, with more housing, transport links and farmed land, we destroy these habitats and the natural corridors that provide connection between them.

Areas of connected habitat are vital in sustaining UK wildlife populations as they allow freer, wider movement for hunting, genetic diversity and seed dispersal.
