In 2021 Heather received a grant from The Lettering Arts Trust’s Journeyman Scheme to be tutored by both Charlotte Howarth and Louise Tiplady to enhance her lettering skills.

Heather trained as a stonemason with Historic Environment Scotland in 2012, working as part of the Monument Conservation Unit and based at Elgin Cathedral, Stirling Castle and Glasgow Cathedral. In 2021 she graduated from the City & Guilds of London Art School’s historic carving course where she studied letters alongside sculpting techniques. She now has her own independent studio in Somerset.
